SOFIE ROSALIEN DEEN | NIGMEGEN, NETHERLANDS

Sofie Rosalien Deen is a multidisciplinary surrealist artist based in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Experimenting with analog and digital photography, painting, and poetry, she explores the unseen spaces we experience but cannot see. Her focus is on the thresholds between life and death, beauty and decay, memory and the subconscious. Her practice is intimate, layered, and subtly disorienting, often moving past the familiar to reveal something eerie and strangely resonant.

For Delirium, Sofie submitted five works: four from her ongoing series Dreamscapes and one from The Space Between. Both series investigate liminal realities: dreamscapes show the study of her dreams and subconscious. The Space Between invites the viewer to look at life and death in a surreal, fantastical and eerie way. Her art does not offer answers but instead takes the viewer to a space of psychological tension, where beauty and rupture coexist, and the unseen insists on being felt. Sofie’s work has been published in The High Shelf Press, Evocations Review, Beyond Words Magazine, and The Closed Eye Open, and featured by Third Street Writers and J. Mane Gallery. She is currently exhibiting with Fusion Art and will present new works from The Space Between on October 19th in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
