VEIL, a virtual exhibition

Oct 27-Nov 30 2023

Curated by Shelby Nicole McFadden

Juniper Rag presents these twenty four significant artists. Their work echos dark changes in the atmosphere and celebrates this transition, as the veil between the seasons is thinned.

From all over the world, this group submitted to our call for art for VEIL. It is the season of preparation, harvesting and celebrating. It is also a mystical time for those who believe the veil between the living and the dead thins. Myths and legends from across cultures pay homage to attempts to cross the veil, to speak with the dead, and to honor our ancestors who are no longer with us. With a little hocus hocus, 24 outstanding artists profiles are here to peruse. The curator has chosen her favorites, which will you choose?

Curating visual art is a complex process and a form of creativity in itself, a delicate organization that requires an innate understanding of artistic skill, color choices, composition, process, materials and selecting work on merit. Approaching the task of curating with a unique lens adds an unparalleled layer of depth and connection to the collection, bringing forth the aspect of capturing a story within the selections, revealing the relationship between the art and the curator’s instinct.

  • Each guest curator brings their own experiences, biases, and emotions to the table.

  • This personal touch infuses the artwork selection process with a sense of subjectivity, allowing for a diverse range of perspectives to be represented within our exhibition.

  • We appreciate the individuality of each guest curation.

  • The subject matter chosen by the curator fits within their scope as described in our instructions.

  • Curators seek to create meaningful connections between the artwork and the viewer as a body of work.

  • They consider how each piece might evoke certain feelings, spark introspection, or challenge us, forging a bridge between the artist's intention and the audience's interpretation.

Shelby Nicole McFadden is a darkness junky, like us and intuitively understands the power of this autumnal vibe. Shelby is a multifaceted creative, a visual artist, graphic designer, marketer and just published her first book from Grove Hollow Series. Shelby was raised with cultured and curated coolness by parents that got it. She has always had a reverence for pop culture from way before her time. Ultimately, Shelby is one prolific and dynamic creative that understands art making, selling and marketing for interior spaces, merchandising as well as understanding the power of social media to form a community. It’s practically magic.

We believe at Juniper Rag, that to create a vibrant and authentic home environment, original artwork brings your personality and story to your space.

Your home is where you live, may work, and will gather, again —made more vibrant with touches of handmade objects and pieces of art collected over time. Research shows that children that grow up learning about and making art have more appreciation for culture and creativity, growing into strong critical thinkers with a more connected feeling about community.

We know that art brings so much value to our lives — it generates an emotional response, sparks interesting conversations, and represents a memory. It may eventually serve as a smart investment or a treasured heirloom.

No matter what your style is — classic, farmhouse, whimsical, minimalist to maximalist, art transforms. We have launched our Art Market to increase placement of art into new homes and to help collectors—old and new discover new artists. If you have questions, need measurements or additional information, we are here.

Do you have a creative home? We would love to feature your style in Juniper Rag. Contact us if you would like to be featured or to learn more about the artwork in Juniper Rag. info@juniperrag.com
