There is a particular kind of magic that arrives with the long light of summer. After we survive months of gray skies and shortened days, sunlight returns not only to the landscape but to our human spirit. It warms us, nourishes our souls and awakens the earth. For many, it offers relief from the heaviness of seasonal darkness and reminds us that light itself can be transformative—a force capable of shifting our moods, perspectives and each ray signals possibilities.

For SUN DRUNK, Juniper Rag invites artists to explore the profound influence of sunlight and the many ways it shapes our lives. The interpretation may be literal—sunlight across a landscape, the rhythms of summer, gardens in bloom, coastal horizons, heat, color or our natural world at its peak of abundance. It may also be metaphorica. The intoxicating pull of travel, time off, love, beauty, memory, desire, hope or fleeting moments that leave us altered when the world is illuminated.

Sunlight is one of the most powerful forces on Earth. It sustains ecosystems, grows our food, regulates our bodies and has guided humanity since the beginning of time. It is both scientific and spiritual, practical and oh, so poetic. It can reveal, energize, heal, and transform. The long days of summer invite us outdoors, into community, into wonder, and into a renewed relationship with the world around us.

A Color stands abroad
On Solitary Fields
That Science cannot overtake
But Human Nature feels.

-A light Exists In Spring, Emily Dickinson

As artists, we are often drawn to moments of illumination—those experiences that stop us in our tracks and remind us all what it means to be fully alive. SUN DRUNK celebrates that sensation. Whether your work reflects the glow of a summer afternoon, the nostalgia of a cherished memory, the exhilaration of connection or the life-giving power of light itself, we invite you to share your interpretation of the altered, euphoric feeling people experience after long exposure to sunlight, heat and summer environments.

Our featured artist Jeane Rosier Smith is a Copley Master, a jurer’s prize at the Measure of Light exhibition. Alight is pastel, 24 × 44.

Paige Roehrig, M.Sc.

Executive Director, Copley Society of Art, Boston

Paige Roehrig is an arts administrator, educator, and ceramic artist dedicated to strengthening creative communities and expanding opportunities for artists. She serves as the Executive Director of the Copley Society of Art, the nation’s oldest nonprofit art association, where she leads strategic planning, artist engagement, fundraising, and organizational growth.

In addition to her leadership at Co|So, Paige is the Co-Founder and Director of Programs for HerSector, an organization focused on supporting women and women-identifying individuals in the arts through mentorship, professional development, and community-building initiatives. She also serves as Adjunct Faculty at Merrimack College, teaching Arts Management and preparing the next generation of creatives.

Paige holds a Master of Science in Arts Administration from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science in Art History with a minor in Ceramics from Northern Michigan University. As a practicing ceramic artist and administrator, her work and leadership are rooted in a belief that artists thrive when they have access to strong networks, professional resources, and meaningful opportunities for growth.

The future of the art world is not confined to a single gallery, city, or zip code.

At Juniper Rag, we are building a global platform where artists can be discovered based on the strength of their work rather than their proximity to traditional art centers.

Our virtual exhibitions bring together talented artists, collectors, curators, designers and cultural leaders from around the world, creating opportunities for meaningful connections that would otherwise be impossible. Through curated exhibitions, editorial storytelling, artist promotion, and strategic partnerships, we amplify artists' voices and extend their reach far beyond the walls of any physical space.

Juniper Rag exists to celebrate artists and create creative pathways to opportunity. We believe great work deserves great visibility—and that technology, community and thoughtful curation can unlock new possibilities for artists everywhere. Every exhibition is part of a larger mission: connecting creative talent to a worldwide audience and helping artists build sustainable, thriving careers in an increasingly interconnected world.
