WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON ORGANIZATION to be efficient.
HELP! Did you ever play that game where you had to guess the artist by looking at a piece of art? When artists do not name their files, this is what happens. It is a nightmare for us and takes hours.
Every artist really should know how to rename their files for submission. Sadly, this is continually a big problem for us. We cannot continue to accept work that does not follow our guidelines. If you are in need of some help here, please ask a savvy friend for help, in the spirit of of Carolus Linnaeus, let’s avoid creating a taxonomic crisis.
How to Name, Save & Upload Your Artwork Images
To help us identify, review, and catalog your artwork accurately, please rename each image file before uploading it using the required naming format below.
Why this matters: Consistent file names help Juniper Rag identify, review, organize, and manage artwork accurately throughout the submission and exhibition process. We have two people working on each exhibition. If artists do not name their files, it creates exponentially more time and work for us.
1. Name Your Image Files for Submission
Use this format for every artwork image:
FirstName_LastName_Title_HeightxWidth_Price.jpg
Examples:
Jane_Smith_Blue_Hour_16x20_450.jpg
Please follow these guidelines:
Artist name: First and last name, that matches name on submission, even if your manager is submitting. Do not use manager’s name, but do note on the Statement that the submission is being “managed by Abby Beckman for Jane Smith” with contact information.
Artwork title: Use the full title, replacing spaces with underscores. Make sure it matches the art. (you’d be surprised!)
Dimensions: Height first, then width, in inches.
Price: Enter the retail price in US dollars, without the dollar sign. Be sure of the price before you submit.
File format: Keep the original file extension, such as .jpg, .jpeg, or .png. No HEIC files.
Multiple views: If submitting additional views of the same artwork, add View2, View3, etc., before the file extension.
Example: Jane_Smith_Blue_Hour_16x20_450_View_2.jpg
