BIO

Ingrid Andersson was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Art has been part of her life since childhood, when she first began drawing and painting. During the pandemic, she found herself returning to art in a new way—through collage. Using analogue materials like old magazines and newspapers, she discovered a deep connection to the hands-on process of cutting, layering, and reshaping fragments into new stories.

For her, collage is about embracing both order and disruption, construction and chance. Each piece evolves unpredictably, and it is within this uncertainty that she finds her greatest sense of freedom and creativity.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Art has always been at the core of my life. Over the years I explored many techniques, but it was collage that truly captured me. I work primarily with analogue materials drawn to the tactile process of collecting, layering, and transforming fragments into something new.

Recurring themes in my work include women, often transfigured or distorted to echo the turbulence of inner emotions. Each image is carefully constructed to reflect its own sense of narrative, allowing viewers to enter into a story without a fixed beginning or end; the meaning remains deliberately ambiguous.

What excites me most about collage is its dual nature: at once disruptive and constructive. Each piece emerges through an unpredictable process, where chance encounters between textures and images drive the work forward. It is a journey into uncertainty—I never quite know where the process will lead, and that is precisely what makes it so appealing.
