DENIS BRAJCIC | Zagreb, Croatia

My process is centered on destruction and rebirth. I rip my drawings apart and through color they self-assemble into new composition.
Over the past two decades, Denis Brajčić has developed a vast and deeply impressive body of work, comprising around 400 pieces, including over 200 oil paintings on canvas alongside intricate mixed-media works. Throughout his entire career, Brajčić has maintained a highly consistent and recognizable visual signature—a raw, visceral handwriting that defines his expression. While his extensive collection of oil paintings carries this powerful stylistic continuity, his recent years mark a natural evolution into complex collage and mixed-media techniques on paper.
Rooted in a deeply personal and intuitive process, his artistic practice often involves tearing apart his own drawings and reassembling them through a dynamic interplay of space, typography, and color. This creates complex compositions that constantly shift from a single point to absolute chaos, and back again. After participating in a few initial exhibitions fifteen years ago, Brajčić chose to distance himself from the conventional art scene to dedicate his life to pure, uncompromised creation within his private studio in Zagreb, Croatia. His prolific output represents a genuine commitment to contemporary neo-expressionism and art brut, free from external pressures.
