BIO
ZK Truth is a collage artist based in New York’s Hudson Valley. His work focuses primarily on figurative and narrative collage built from printed mass media. He has exhibited in galleries and group exhibitions in New York City and throughout the Hudson Valley, and his work has appeared in independent publications and curated collage projects. Working outside traditional painting and drawing methods, ZK Truth approaches collage as a physical construction process, building each image by hand from thousands on individual paper fragments. His work often combines recognizable imagery with dense underlying layers of text, advertising, and printed ephemera that remain partially visible within the finished surface.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is constructed entirely from cut and torn fragments of magazines, newspapers, junk mail, and other printed material pulled from contemporary consumer culture. Working piece by piece, I rebuild these discarded images into new forms while leaving traces of their original language exposed. From a distance, the work reads as bold, recognizable imagery. Up close, the surface breaks apart into layers of text, texture, advertising copy, and fractured color. Fragments of their previous lives remain visible inside the finished image, carrying pieces of their original intent into a new context. Rather than hiding the construction, I keep the rough edges, mismatched textures, and collisions between materials visible. The finished works are built from media originally designed to persuade, sell, and manipulate. Cut apart and reassembled, those same materials begin speaking a different language.
