Paula Borsetti is a painter creating layered abstract works that explore the space of inner and outer landscapes. Her paintings, rooted in intuition and process, weave together personal and universal moments that invite reflection and connection. Borsetti began painting in plein air from the landscape while in high school. A love of observing and translating experience through paint has guided her ever since. Being an art educator deepened her desire to nurture creativity, learn continuously, and share what she discovers.

My paintings begin with written words— ones I can’t easily speak. Guided by memory, nature, and personal experience, my process unfolds. Formal elements emerge and dissolve, dancing in and out until the painting feels complete and resonates with joy and gratitude. This series of paintings called “Coastal Notes” are inspired by my walks to sunrise on the beach in my hometown. The same place but every day is fresh with new colors, shapes and sounds.

Borsetti maintains studios on the North Shore of Massachusetts and in Maine. Her work is represented by TAG Gallery in Boston’s SoWa district, The Salted Cod Arthouse in Gloucester, and is included in numerous exhibitions and private collections. It only takes one person to change a life—and for me, that person was Sister Vincent de Paul. At a time when I didn’t know I had a voice, Sister Vincent showed me that art could speak when words felt too difficult. She taught me to trust my intuition, embrace mistakes, and find meaning in layers.
