“My mono prints allow me to use harmonious color and loose mark making using a brayer. They are one of a kind, the results are unpredictable. The marks and textures that occur lead the viewer to imagine a world inside each piece.”
Carol Frieswick is an artist based in Whitinsville, Massachusetts, whose work is shaped by a deep connection to nature, quiet observations, and the subtle narratives she sees in everyday landscapes and still lives. Carol draws inspiration from the rural edges of New England and the shifting moods of light, her practice explores memory, place, and the emotional vibrations that comes to life in our familiar environments.
Through a thoughtful process that blends intuition with technical skills, Frieswick creates work that feels both grounded and softly atmospheric. Her paintings invite viewers to slow down —where texture, color, and gesture work together to reveal what is often overlooked. There is a contemplative stillness in her work, yet also an undercurrent of movement, echoing the rhythms of the natural world and the passage of time.
Rooted in a lifelong commitment to creativity, Frieswick’s work resonates with collectors who appreciate art that is quietly sublime, comes from the heart, and connected to the land. Her studio practice in Whitinsville allows her to remain continually inspired by the surrounding environment, translating its essence into compelling visual stories.
We love that she ventured away from represtentational work and had some fun with these mono prints.

‘Tis the season for giving. I normally paint realistic oils and pastels, including plein-air work. For this show I chose three small exciting expressive pieces. They are monoprints so are one of a kind and can’t be reproduced. It is a fun way for me to use a different part of my brain, and still be creative.
