Kathryn Shagas, Belfast, Maine
STATEMENT/BIO
I make paintings and collages about nature’s rhythms, the flow energy in motion that unifies all of life. I walk in the woods or on Maine’s rocky shoreline, absorbing the rhythmic feeling of place. Turning from the water, I see the bluff falling away, exposed tree roots and some birches still hanging on but practically horizontal. In the studio I look for connectivity while there is still time to choose renewal.
