BIO

As a graphic designer for over 20 years, Katie has worked in the academic, real estate, fine art, corporate, non-profit, retail and medical design spaces. One of her surface designs, for an assortment of products such as tote bags, tablecloths, and napkins, recently landed on Katie Couric and Bobby Berk’s favorite holiday gifts list. Katie has exhibited her fine art at the Mercantile Center in Worcester, The Menino Arts Center, Mosesian Center for the Arts as well as Arts Worcester where she is a member.

Her work “Building and Bridges” is included in the online art gallery Art Fluent, in their exhibition, “Wanderlust.” Katie’s work has been published in multiple issues of Contemporary Collage magazine. Katie earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Delaware and went on to pursue further studies at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, where she received a Post Baccaluareate degree in graphic design.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My work utilizes shape, texture, depth and layering of various media to place the viewer in an imagined environment, which is often influenced by nature and bodies of water. Similar to an excavation, adding and removing sections of the painting reveals the assembled archives of an experience, time, and a sense of being. I explore my love for mark making by consistently working with different tools and materials to discover new, and often unexpected, results from “happy accidents” of experimentation.
