I create works that appear as torn collages, where the image surface is fractured, disrupted, and reassembled. These breaks function both physically and conceptually, suggesting a rupture within the image while simultaneously holding it together. The work exists in a space between abstraction and representation, where neither state fully resolves, and both remain in tension.
The act of tearing—whether literal or implied—becomes a language of interruption and reconstruction. It challenges the expectation of a seamless image, instead presenting one that acknowledges its own instability. In this way, the surface becomes a site of conflict: an image that is at once constructed and deconstructed, unified yet visibly broken.
Through this process, I explore the relationship between presence and absence, surface and depth, permanence and collapse. The work ultimately asks how an image can remain intact while revealing the forces that threaten to pull it apart.
