My work consists of figurative portraits, freehand drawn snapshots of moments inspired by personal experiences, on custom-built wood panels. Sometimes a song inspires a gesture or pose but mostly it’s an emotion that I can’t escape. By drawing that emotion out, it helps to overcome it. The nudity in my work represents how vulnerable it is to share the intimacy of one's self. In sharing my own struggles, my hope is to create an open environment for honest, internal dialogue and deeper, healthy connections.

Michelle Lubin makes art under the name MD Ferrera. “As an artist whose work stems from journaling, creating and self-publishing non-fiction books has felt like a natural progression of my art journey and mission. Over the past few years, I've had the opportunity to lead workshops utilizing my non-fiction books as a guide, focusing on the importance of balancing mental and physical well-being through creative practices like journaling and art with meditation. As a female artist and advocate for mental health awareness, my hope is to share healthy creative outlets to help build self-love and the strength needed to fuel honest communication and connections in this ever-changing world.”
