WELCOME TO JUNIPER RAG | an Art Advocacy Project of Atelier ID Global

Contemporary art to elevate and enrich our spaces—

We are building communities around art, culture and connection, serving as a bridge between individuals and the transformative power of art and shared experiences. We enrich communities by facilitating dialogue, and creating spaces where cultural expression and creative practices contribute to personal and collective well-being and growth. Juniper Rag blends curation, creative activism, and like-minded collaborators to inspire personal growth and deeper connections through artistic and cultural engagement. We believe in surrounding ourselves with art, creativity and the people that share themselves through art.

Art makes our world a much more connected and beautiful place, let’s harness the power of collaboration.

Juniper Rag was founded to elevate artists, as a resource for collectors and art-related organizations —to provide a bridge to the art world that enriches our lives. Founded in 2020, our mission is driven by our ability to organize and connect people to the arts as advocates.

What do we do?

We feature emerging and high-level mid career artists and help them sell artwork. We use print and digital marketing campaigns, curated exhibitions, juried shows and many collaborative projects that we present annually. Juniper Rag also focuses on new and exciting ways that art intersects with the future. We are talking about what that looks like for contemporary artists practicing and selling art today in a new landscape taking advantage of online opportunities.

Why do we do it?

Juniper Rag is a web-based initiative for the arts with a strong community development component. With practical insights that foster a holistic perspective on the arts, we are on a mission to contribute meaningfully to the sustainability of our collective creative economy, driving growth and connections that advance artists’ careers and enrich public and private spaces. We value authentic voices, love visual storytelling, and value participatory, socially conscious artwork and experiences.

We offer insight, critique, promotion, opportunities and community — beyond exhibitions.

Payal Thiffault and Michelle May are the Co-Founders of Juniper Rag, located in Massachusetts.

How do we elevate artists + impact their journey?

Recommendation

“I am a professional visual artist working full time since 2014 and living on Skidaway Island, Georgia. I had met Robin Reynolds in the MFA Grad Program at SCAD (Savannah) and we reconnected about 8 years ago on Instagram. Robin is a highly successful painter living and working in Massachusetts and told me about a start-up mag called Juniper Rag. I responded to an open call and was received nicely with all the appropriate write-ups, advocacy, and social media plugs. At this point in my career, I was only interested in competitions and museum shows that were regional...not galleries. Sales were limited and word of mouth. As I moved forward I started expanding to connecting to national Galleries in Florida, Colorado, Memphis, Hilton Head and now California. Juniper Rag became the impetus to measure audience response to my work and through that encouraged me to branch out and even focus on more specific content. They always featured my upcoming shows and new work consistently on Social Media as well. The Magazine founders have always been outstanding advocates for the Arts and their reach extends to the West Coast and beyond. I have become Instagram "friends" with several of the artists featured on Juniper Rag. The editors also did a piece on a Residency I attended in Ireland, which became sort of an international outreach. I am pretty proactive in my approach for new audiences and Juniper Rag has been the positive impetus to make many of those needed connections. My relationship with Juniper Rag and the founders has been very organic, but also something I highly value and treasure. It will be very interesting to see where they and their audience go from here." —Randy Akers, Skidaway Island, Georgia

“When I speak with clients, I describe our process and let them know how critical art and special curiosities are, as they reflect their lifestyle. These items need to be placed on visible surfaces and areas that enhance the vision of the homeowner and have meaning.”
